Hi, I’m Jodie

Psychologist / Clinical Psychology Registrar

I am guided by research that has found that the majority of positive change that occurs when people go to therapy is the result of the collaborative relationship developed between the client and the psychologist. Therefore, my approach to therapy is warm, empathetic, and enthusiastic, focusing on building a strong therapeutic alliance between the client and psychologist.

I believe that people are the experts in their own lives and, therefore, encourage clients to be active participants in therapy. I also believe that few things in life are one-size-fits-all, so I use evidence-based interventions tailored to the individual client's difficulties, strengths, needs, values, and goals.

Qualifications & Experience

I particularly enjoy integrating psychological analysis, relevant psychological processes, and emergent research into therapy. Although I am primarily trained in cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), which focuses on identifying and improving unhelpful thoughts and behaviours, I have experience delivering group therapy. Additionally, I have special interests in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), which is values-focused, cognitive processing therapy (CPT), Schema therapy, and dialectical behavioural therapy (DBT), which help with trauma, CBT for eating disorders (CBT-E), CBT for AFRID (CBT-AR), and positive psychology, which is strengths- and growth-focused.

I have experience in the diagnosis and treatment of various mental health conditions, such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Anorexia Nervosa, Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar II, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Histrionic Personality Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, Pre-Menstrual Dysphoria, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Specific Phobias, and Social Anxiety Disorder.
